Surfest is proud to be a supporter of the first major production in 2014 for Newcastle’s Tantrum Youth Arts.
This work is called Diving off the Edge of the World and is a multi-artform devised work that takes as its inspiration memories of the long-gone “Map of the World” pool that lies at the heart of the external Newcastle Ocean Baths.
Young people across all of Tantrum’s age ranges are invited to participate in the creation and performance of the show in collaboration with an extraordinary range of professional artists – including playwright Vanessa Bates, visual artist Liz Anelli and performer/ musician Zackari Watt.
Join Tantrum for a two week creative development during January where you will develop your skills in performance plus video-making, playwriting, movement and visual art while actually creating the show. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an innovative and memorable production – and a way to be creative and hang out at the beach at the same time!
