North Narrabeen Boardriders are now favourites to win the Orica Tag Team Challenge after finishing day two of competition as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds going into the quarter-finals. The North Narrabeen ‘Black’ team were the only team to complete three rounds undefeated on 30 points.

The North Narrabeen ‘White’ team followed on 26 points with Saltwater ‘Alpha,’ Merewether ‘Blue’ and defending champions Frenchmans Boardriders narrowly scraping into the quarter finals defeating Merewether ‘Black’ by less than a point in the last round three heat of the day.

The surprise of the day was the successful Merewether Juniors who made it into the quarter finals in 7th spot after a convincing round three heat win over the Redhead and Northside ‘White’ teams.

The quarter final match-up tomorrow see the top ranked Narrabeen ‘Black’ team take on 2013 runners-up North Shelley ‘Black’ in the first quarter final. In a much anticipated clash the 2013 Orica champions Frenchmans take on the top ranked Merewether ‘Blue’. Merewether will be keen to make amends for their loss to Frenchmans in the semi-finals last year.

Quarter final three pairs up a very impressive Saltwater “Alpha’ team from the mid north coast and anchored by former ASP professional Ben Dunn.

The last quarter final is a David and Goliath match-up with the 2nd ranked North Narrabeen ‘White’ taking on the Merewether Juniors led very effectively by Jackson Baker who has recently from competition in Hawaii.

The 2014 Orica champion will be crowned on Stockton Beach tomorrow with the winners taking home the $5000 cash prize.
