Doyle Partners win Surfest Women’s Pro naming rights

Doyle Partners Chartered Accountants has been named the naming rights sponsor of the 2020 Surfest Women’s Pro. The local accounting firm was drawn by four-time world surfing champion and the inaugural winner of the Surfest Women’s Pro in 1985, Wendy Botha at a special function for crowdfunders at Newcastle City Hall on Wednesday 13 November 2019.

This year, the initiative saw an expanded pool of 97 organisations and individuals that each contributed $1,750 to support the event allowing more young women surfers to compete and the winners receive equal prize money to their male contemporaries. One organisation is drawn from the barrel to take out the major sponsor title.

Doyle Partners is a Newcastle based firm of accounting professionals who are passionate about advising their quality and well-established client base of privately held businesses and family groups.

Director of Doyle Partners, Martin Perry said that the firm had been part of the Women’s Pro crowdfunding initiative since it began five years ago.

“Doyle Partners is honoured to be drawn as the 2020 naming rights sponsor. It’s really great for Newcastle businesses to come together and support some of the world’s best female surfers in such an incredible event. That’s why we choose to be involved in it every year,” Martin said.

As the naming rights sponsor, Doyle Partners will receive about $130,000 in promotional value as well as a $10,000 marketing budget which will assist them with promotion in the lead up and during the Women’s Pro event.

Surfest Coordinator Warren Smith, said that the support received from local organisations and individuals over the years ensured that the competition remained a world class event.

“We are really pleased that in 2020, our 35th year, that the prize money for the women’s event has been brought to parity with the men’s event. We look forward to working with the Doyle Partners team in the lead-up to 2020 Surfest
which will be held in February with the Women’s finals to be held at Merewether Beach from 2 to 8 March,” Warren said.
