‘Barrelled’ – Food, Wine and Beer Festival announced for Surfest 2019

BARRELLED will feature a great line up of Hunter Valley wine producers, food from quality local restaurants such as Restaurant Mason as well as craft brewers plying their chilled sparkling brown product.

Surfest Event Manager Warren Smith has welcomed the event –
“As Surfest has grown, a food and wine event has been something that we knew would enhance our overall event. With the ever growing number of domestic and international visitors, as well as the thousands of locals who attend Surfest, it is a great way to showcase our Hunter regional food, wine and beer”.

Barrelled will operate the final weekend of Surfest in Jefferson Park Merewether, and whilst Sunday will be from 11am-5pm, Saturday will feature a twilight session extending from 11am-8pm.

Event Manager Louise Maher from Hunter Valley Events has her eyes set on a successful first year, and then building into the future –
“Whilst Newcastle has some great concerts and markets, we don’t believe that there is one major festival event which focusses collectively on showcasing Hunter Valley wine, our regions beers, and our growing restaurant quality food scene in Newcastle. Music will play a key part in our event of course, featuring some talented local musicians providing a great festival vibe and music to make you want to get up and dance!”

Barrelled will also feature a range of engaging and entertaining workshops such as Vino Virgins 101, Queen Brie, Aging Without Wrinkles, Rose` Crush, Crafty Corner and Good Spirits, all at $25 per session.

The Barrelled Business Class Bar has limited seating and a line up of premium wines not being tasted at individual winery stalls. Two hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday are $60pp, and include 16 wines for tasting, hosted by our Barrelled wine aficionado to answer all of your questions.

General event entry is free, and tastings of wine and beer are available by purchasing a souvenir festival tumbler, and vouchers for tastings at the event.

Event details and online ticket sales are at barrelled.com.au Discounted festival ‘Starter Packs’ are available online for guaranteed entry (as capacity is limited). Workshops and Business Class sessions need to be purchased online.
