A very strong team from Frenchman’s Boardriders will be defending their inaugural Orica Tag Team title on Stockton Beach from January 31st to February 2nd 2014. Frenchman’s team captain, and anchor of the 2013 team Dan Frodsham returns with outstanding Pro Junior surfer James McMorland along with the club president, Dale Thomas.
Dan said, “We are really looking forward to defending our title this year. We performed really consistently last year to make the final with Shelley Beach (Central Coast). But this year with teams from Sydney and the north coast it will be a bigger challenge.”
There are 18 teams entered into the 2014 event with Sydney teams North Narrabeen, North Avalon and north coast teams Saltwater Board Club (Old Bar) up against three very strong Merewether teams. The other Newcastle region teams are Bar Reef Boardriders, Catho Boardriders, Redhead Boardriders, North Shelley Boardriders and Bay Area Boardriders.
The host club, Northside Boardriders have entered three teams which is indicative of their emerging strength as a Boardrider club in the region.
The contest will be held over three rounds with the finals on Sunday. Teams are competing for $10,000 in cash prizes with the winning team taking home $5000.
