The Mark Hughes Foundation raises much-needed funds to promote research, heighten awareness and support brain cancer patients (children and adults) and their families within the community.
Evolution Advisers previously sponsored the SurfAid Cup and raised over $120,000 for the not-for-profit humanitarian organisation. In 2020, their fundraising ability will again focus on a not-for-profit local charity doing incredible work raising money and awareness of brain cancer right here in the Hunter – the Mark Hughes Foundation. The corporate tag-team style surfing allows local business teams of surfers to ride waves for the Foundation that itself is making big waves in the NFP sector by providing funds for medical research into brain cancer treatment and cure.
The 2020 Evolution Charity Cup will comprise 20 teams made up of employees or business connections of registered companies plus one wild card surfer. Each team will undertake fundraising to help better the 2019 target of $100,000.
The event will take place at Dixon Park beach Newcastle on Friday 6th March 2020.
Company registration for the event is $440 (GST included) which includes an official event t-shirt, lunch, prizes and refreshments at Dixon Park Surf Club.
Evolution Director Darren Glover believes the 2020 Evolution Charity Cup is an opportunity to combine business and pleasure with the added bonus of supporting a very worthwhile cause.
Mr Glover said, “We were over the moon with the support shown by so many Newcastle businesses in 2019. We more than achieved our goal of $100,000 all of which went to support the incredible and life changing work of the Mark Hughes Foundation. This city loves sport and has a generous spirit. This one day event is a perfect fit between business, sport and charity.”
Mark Hughes said, “Surfest has been an iconic event in Newcastle for the past 35 years. Everyone knows about Surfest. We are again delighted and proud as locals to be a part of Surfest in 2020. Our partners in the event, Evolution Advisers will facilitate us to bring 20 generous local businesses together to make a difference in our aggressive and successful approach to defeating brain cancer. We hope to go past our 2019 target of $100,000 at the 2020 event in one day. Everyone who works and volunteers with the Mark Hughes Foundation is extremely happy and excited to be a part of this event at Surfest 2020.
Again we thank Warren Smith of Surfest and Darren Glover at Evolution and the incredibly generous businesses and surfers who will make the 2020 Evolution Charity Cup a huge success.”
