BARRELLED at Surfest will again feature a great line up of Hunter Valley wine producers, food from quality local restaurants as well as craft brewers plying their chilled sparkling brown product.

In its second year, Barrelled will take place on the final weekend of Surfest – now in its 35th year, on March 7th & 8th in Jefferson Park Merewether. Saturday will feature a twilight session extending from 11am-7pm, with Sunday hours being 11am- 5pm.

General event entry to Barrelled is free, and tastings of wine and beer are available by purchasing a souvenir festival tumbler and vouchers, for tastings at the event.

The popular Barrelled Business Class Bar will again return, with limited seating in a private marquee. It will feature two hour sessions, and a line up of premium wines not being tasted at individual winery stalls, as well as including craft beers for the first time.

Two hour Business Class Bar sessions on Saturday and Sunday are $60pp, and include private wine and craft beer tastings, hosted by our Barrelled wine aficionado to answer all of your questions, and a Hunter Valley Cheese plate per couple.

Event details and online ticket sales are at BARRELLED

Discounted festival ‘Starter Packs’ are available online for guaranteed entry (as capacity is limited). Business Class sessions need to be purchased online.

Event Manager Louise Maher from Hunter Valley Events is looking to build on last years inaugural Barrelled event.

“We will again look to create a festival event which focusses on showcasing Hunter Valley wine, our regions beers, and our growing restaurant quality food scene in the Hunter.

“Barrelled brings the cellar door experience to the shores of Merewether beach. You will meet experts in wine and craft beer who are passionate and eager to share their knowledge of their wares; and of course you can buy your wine and beer from their makers.”

Music will play a key part in our event of course, featuring some talented local musicians providing a great festival vibe and music to make you want to get up and dance!”

Surfest co-ordinator, Warren Smith said, “With the ever growing number of domestic and international visitors, as well as the thousands of locals who attend Surfest, it is a great way to showcase our Hunter regional food, wine and beer”.

The final word to Louise Maher – “A successful event to us is one that leaves a lasting impression with all involved, and sees the festival audience with a big smile on their faces! We are looking forward to working with the iconic Surfest to deliver this!”.
