The 2022 Surfest Women’s Pro crowdfunding naming rights winner is Newcastle business, AAP Consulting.
Surfest 2022 marks 36 years of the iconic Newcastle sporting event and the 6th year that the region’s business community has joined as one to crowd fund this world class professional surfing contest for women’s. In 2022 the prize money for the women surfers will be AU$50,000.
The crowdfunding initiative began in 2015 when local business banker, Col Law, developed a crowdfunding idea and then worked with Warren Smith and a number of local business people, to develop to fund the event, ensuring that Newcastle’s iconic Surfest would provide world-class opportunity for women in the sport.
In its 6th year AAP Consulting now have the opportunity to sponsor this iconic event held on the National Surfing Reserve on Merewether Beach, Newcastle NSW between March 29th to April 3rd, 2022.
The event will be broadcast live on Surfest.com to a large local and international audience.
Surfest Co-ordinator, Warren Smith congratulated the team at AAP Consulting for winning naming rights to the WSL rated QS5000 AAP Consulting Women’s Pro. In their first year as a crowd funder AAP Consulting were delighted to win the naming rights draw. As a young, small family business the opportunity to be a part of this historic event is exciting and much appreciated.
Warren Smith too, was grateful for their support and commitment to Surfest and ultimately professional women’s surfing.
What a fantastic way to celebrate the 36th anniversary of Surfest than to have the richest prizemoney for the women’s event in the history of Surfest as well as the largest field of competitors in the main event. A huge thanks to all the crowd funders who support this unique event.
