Surfers from Vanuatu return to Surfest to compete in Newcastle NOW High School Challenge

Newcastle, NSW, Australia, Monday 10 February 2014.

We are very pleased to announce that a team of five young surfers from Vanuatu will compete in the Newcastle NOW High School Team Challenge as part of Surfest.

This is the second year that Jirsch Sutherland has worked with the Vanuatu Surfing Association to enable these young people to travel to Newcastle for this unique experience.

The team arrives in Australia on Wednesday, 19 February and will compete on the following two days at Nobbys Beach, Newcastle on Thursday, 20 February and Friday, 21 February 2014.

The team of five young boys are aged between 15 and 17. One of the prerequisites of being able to compete in Newcastle is that they must currently attend school.

While in Newcastle the boys and their chaperones will stay with my family but will also be enjoying some of the great assets this region has to offer and will experience a Newcastle Jets game.

Surfest organiser, Warren Smith, has also arranged for them to watch the finals of the Burton Toyota Pro on Sunday February 23 as well as meet the surfers.

The team at Jirsch Sutherland is really pleased to be again supporting this initiative.
