SOME of the world's best junior surfers will converge on Merewether Beach from March 4-7 to compete in the elite Chiko Pro Junior as part of thethe strongest, richest and biggest junior surfing series in the world.
Chiko's support has ensured the Chiko Pro Junior will be a junior grade 2 Mens and a junior grade 1 Womens event with a total prize purse of $18000.
Not only will the junior boys be trying to secure valuable ratings points, they will also be seeking a wildcard berth into the $37,000 AUD 4-star Burton Toyota Pro.
Surfest chief Warren Smith says the Chiko Pro Junior will provide spectators with a great opportunity to view tomorrow's surf stars in action as they set out to impress and announce their impending arrival on the world stage.
"The level of surfing at the ChikoPro Junior will blow everyone away and with the added bonus of a wildcard entry into the Burton Toyota Pro, we are in for some great surfing," Mr Smith said.
The Chiko Pro Junior will hit the water at Newcastle's Merewether beach from March 4-7.
