Surfing great Occhilupo to open John Earle exhibition

ONE OF THE WORLD'S most respected surfers, Mark Occhilupo, will be on hand to open Surfing Destinations - an exhibition of new works by one of Australia's most renowned landscape artists.

The brilliant work of John Earle is celebrated around the globe.

The 54-year-old artist will be including previously unseen sketches, drawings and fine art prints at the John Earle Studio Gallery at 126 Glebe Road, Merewether from March 9-14. The gallery will be open from 12pm-5pm each day during that period.

John will reveal works of surfing destinations in the Maldives, Fiji, Hawaii, California and Australia, with a focus on Merewether, the home of this year’s Burton Toyota Surfest.

Occy, who will be in Newcastle attempting to add to the two Surfest crowns he claimed in 1986 and 1998, is thrilled to be officially opening John's exhibition on March 11.

"I love the detail in John's work and his original approach to Australian beach culture," the 1999 world champion said.

Works will be for sale.
