In 2018, Surfest is excited to announce that Hunter based nib Health Fund will again sponsor a World Surfing League (WSL) junior men’s and women’s surfing contest at Merewether beach, 10th and 11th February, 2018.
The 2018 nib Pro Junior will again attract competitors from around the world and provides a great opportunity for the Hunter’s best up-and-coming surfers to compete in an international event; experiencing competition at the highest level.
nib CEO, Mark Fitzgibbon said nib is delighted to again be part of the Surfest Pro Junior in 2018.
“It’s great to be on board again with the Surfest Pro, an event that showcases our local home grown talent. Surfest has a proud history offering young male and female athletes the opportunity to compete in a first-class, internationally-rated event on their home breaks right here in Newcastle. We have enjoyed watching a number of our region’s young athletes compete in the Surfest Pro go on to carve out a successful career in professional surfing,” Mr. Fitzgibbon added.
The nib Pro Junior will take place from 10th – 11th February 2018, with a total of $10,000 in prize money up for grabs. This event alone is expected to attract around 100 male and female competitors, 18-years and under, from eight different countries.
